e-Bikes

YES!

Hot Doggett 100 is rolling out the red …
um … bike lane for e-bikes!

So come and ride your e-bike on our
beautiful, low-traffic mountain roads!

E-bikes have always been allowed on all three rides at Hot Doggett. But now we’re doing everything we can to make your e-ride the best it can be.

At 50 km, the Big Laurel Grind is perfect for most e-bike riders. You are welcome to ride with the group of standard bikes. But we will also have a separate e-bike start that will allow you to ride at a pace that matches your rig.

The 100km Devil’s Fork Metric pushes the distance limit of most e-bikes. So we have two ways for you to get the most out of our mountain roads:

At mile 33 you can plug in to recharge your battery.

OR

You can leave a spare battery at packet-pickup and swap it out at mile 41 (details below).

The 100-mile Doggett Mountain challenge is not recommended for e-bikes, because of the distance and the cumulative climbing. However, you are allowed to do that ride, and plug in to recharge at mile 65, as long as you make the rest stop time cut-off of 2:00 pm.

Please keep in mind the following e-bike Guidelines:

Hot Doggett is a fun, non-competitive athletic event. We are delighted to welcome riders with e-bikes, provided that they are pedal-bikes. So bring your class 1 e-bike and enjoy our fabulous
mountain roads and scenery. But please be aware that class 2 & 3 e-bikes (electric mopeds) are not allowed for safety reasons.

Except for the prohibition on classes 2 & 3, there are no restrictions on e-bikes. You are welcome to do any of the 3 rides just like the riders on standard bikes.

At the Laurel Fire Station Rest stop (mile 33 on the Devil’s Fork Metric and mile 65 on the Doggett Mountain Challenge), only 10 bikes can be recharged at once.

Also, if you ride the 100K Devil’s Fork metric, you can swap out a spare battery at the Devil’s Fork rest stop (mile 42). Here’s how the battery swap option works:
a) pre-register (no same-day registration)
b) drop off your charged spare battery at packet pick-up
c) your spare battery will be at Devil’s Fork between 10:30 & noon
d) your original battery will be delivered to the post-ride meal area by 1:30.
